ABERDEEN-BASED international energy service company Wood Group has announced a new joint venture in Australia.
Wood Group Wagners, which officially starts trading today, also involves Toowoomba-based Wagners.
Wood Group chairman Sir Ian Wood is at the opening event in Brisbane.
The joint venture is starting off with just a handful of employees, but it expected to grow significantly in the near future. Wood Group also has an office in Perth employing 550 people.
The new firm has been set up in Brisbane to provide Queensland’s gas producers with a service for developing coal-seam methane (CSM) by combining Wood’s global CSM experience with the local supply-chain capability of Wagners. Les Thomas, Wood Group board director responsible for Asia-Pacific, said: “The combined strength of our partner companies gives us the capability to deliver CSM projects from field development through commissioning to operations.”
