Bibby Offshore confirmed a multimillion-pound North Sea deal yesterday.
The Aberdeen-based provider of subsea construction and offshore management services, has been awarded an engineering, procurement, installation and construction contract by Ithaca Energy (UK).
This will involve tying back four production wells and one water-injection well plus installing the export system for the BW Athena floating production vessel on Ithaca’s Athena field.
Offshore work is due to commence in the second quarter of 2011 and will take about 80 days to complete.
Bibby will use its dive-support vessel Bibby Topaz, plus a construction support ship and a trenching vessel. Bibby subsea business manager Tony Evans said: “We are delighted to have been selected by Ithaca.
“This win further underlines our reputation as a serious provider of major construction solutions.”
Ithaca chief development officer John Woods said, “This agreement represents the final major contract to be awarded for the Athena project.”
Ithaca said in September it had received development approval for Athena, allowing it to begin production in the third quarter of next year.
It expects output of 22,000 barrels of oil per day.
