OIL & GAS UK is looking for young professionals to give their views on the future of the industry.
The industry body will hold its Next Generation Conference on Wednesday, April 22, at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Oil & Gas UK plans to use the event to recruit young professionals to speak at its Offshore Europe breakfast in September.
Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, said: “If we are to attract and retain the young professionals needed to shape and lead tomorrow’s industry, we have to know what attracts them to this sector in the first place and also what must change if they are to stay.
“We also need to give them a platform to express their views and there is no better opportunity for this than at our breakfast event at Offshore Europe, where they will get industry-wide exposure, a chance to be noticed by industry leaders and something impressive to add to their CV.
“Indeed, listening to the next generation has never been more important. In spite of the current economic downturn, the industry must not shift focus away from the important issues of attraction and retention.”
He added that the industry needs to heed lessons learned in previous recessions and do all it can to “emerge from the current recession in as good health as possible”, with listening to future leaders an “important step”.
