THE deadline for companies planning to enter the Scottish Offshore Achievement Awards (SOAA) has been extended by a week to Friday, February 6.
Organised by Scottish Enterprise and supported by industry sponsors, the honours showcase and recognise outstanding achievements throughout the sector.
Brian Nixon, director of energy at SE, said: “We understand that running a business in the current economic climate is challenging and by extending the deadline we hope that companies across the sector will take this opportunity to submit an application that could very well be an industry winner.”
This year, there are two new categories – one of which is The Idea, which is looking for a great proposal at the early development stage that can be taken forward as a “game changer” for the oil and gas sector.
It is jointly sponsored by ITF (Industry Technology Facilitator) and the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
ITF managing director Neil Poxon said: “The key to this award is thinking outside of the box.
“Often the simplest ideas can translate into pioneering technology that can be exported around the world and be of huge benefit to the global oil and gas industry.”
The other new category is the Outstanding Contribution Award, which will recognise someone who has made a positive impact on the sector from both a business and wider industry perspective.
Category winners will each receive £5,000 worth of bespoke support to help them to achieve their growth ambitions.
From among the category winners, an overall winner will also be recognised for outstanding achievement.
