Dutch offshore construction firm Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) will sell yards in the Netherlands and UK due to a tail off in activity.
HFG said the bases in Zwijndrecht and Hartlepool had been put up for sale, with 60 redundancies expected at its Dutch headquarters.
The firm blamed the decision on “insufficient project volume and marginal profitability”.
HFG has signed a letter of intent for the sale of its activities in Zwijndrecht with the Italian engineering and construction company Rosetti Marino.
The transfer of activities is not expected to affect the workforce at that yard.
The company is looking for a buyer for its Hartlepool operations.
HFG chief executive Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven said: “We are very much aware that the intended plans will have a deep impact on our staff at the head office in Zwijndrecht.
“We will be providing every support we can offer in this very difficult period.”
