COSALT Offshore, which provides lifting, tooling and marine services to the oil and gas industry, said yesterday it had ordered a second 50-tonne spooling winch from Ace Winches.
It is worth a six-figure sum and is part of a million-pound-plus investment in equipment and infrastructure.
The firm said the new winch, destined for Norway, was ordered following high demand for the first, which has been in constant operation in the North Sea since its delivery in February.
The winch was designed and built at Ace Winches’ manufacturing base at Towie Barclay Works, near Turriff.
Cosalt Offshore chief executive Rod Buchan said: “This piece of kit is part of an overall multimillion-pound investment programme in new equipment we are planning over the coming months to ensure we have the best stock in the industry available to meet increasing demand.”
The company, which provides lifting, tooling and marine services to the oil and gas industry, has nearly 300 people based in Aberdeen and Stavanger.
