PETROBRAS has contracted PGS to instal a permanent seismic monitoring system in the Jubarte field in the North Campos Basin.
This entails equipping the field with a fibre-optic system and carrying out seismic acquisition and data processing.
Petrobras says this project marks a significant step forward in the use of geophysics for reservoir surveillance, in particular 4D and related 4C seismic to map the flow of fluids in Brazil’s deepwater reservoirs.
The expectation is that it will further improve the quality and timeliness of information that Petrobras’s geophysics team provides to its counterpart reservoir and production engineers who run fields such as Jubarte.
It is said that PGS’s OptoSeis fibre-optic technology provides richer data than other commercially available optical systems. In addition to providing better data quality, it will be certified for the life of the reservoir.
