ABERDEEN hydraulic-engineering company DE Hydraulics said yesterday it had been awarded a contract by Weatherford International worth several million pounds over five years.
The deal – to supply, service and re-certify blowout preventer (BOP) control units for Weatherford UK’s pressure-control group – is the first such service agreement secured by DE.
The company will service and supply various sizes of units, testing them to the highest safety standards through survey and ignition-hazard assessments.
The award comes on the back of DE completing a project to supply Weatherford with a custom-engineered BOP control system.
Operations manager Stewart Dalgarno said: “We’re thrilled to secure our first service agreement. We have identified service contracts as a key area of growth for DE Hydraulics in the coming period and to have our first one in place is a major development for the company.”
