ABERDEEN-BASED oil service company Petrotechnics has landed a Middle East deal worth more than £600,000.
The firm announced yesterday the first deployment of its electronic integrated safe system of work solution in the area.
The two-year contract for a US major will see Petrotechnics instal its Sentinel PRO solution on 11 offshore platforms in the Gulf plus at onshore facilities in Qatar.
Sentinel PRO is a web-based system already used extensively in the North Sea.
Petrotechnics said that the new contract marked a significant milestone for it in the Gulf and provided the foundation upon which the company planned to build its business in the Middle East.
The first phase of the project is expected to be operational by February.
Iain Mackay, operations director at Petrotechnics, said: “The root cause of the majority of incidents can be traced back to poor quality of risk assessment, low hazard awareness of the workforce and poor control of hazards at the worksite.
“Sentinel PRO incorporates our global experience of business process and effective work activity management, resulting in tangible safety and efficiency improvements.”
Petrotechnics employs 140 staff in the UK, has branch offices in Russia and Trinidad and Tobago and now has a team of 45 people in Houston, Texas, since opening an office in the US city two years ago.
