A US engineer is swapping Denver, Colorado, for Aberdeen to join oil and gas services firm Alba Gaskets.
Sigfrid Ruz, 50, is relocating to the Granite City early this month to become Alba’s new technical and operations director.
He joins the business from Panasonic Systems Solutions in Denver, Colorado, where he has been senior operations manager.
Mr Ruz has 25 years’ experience working in technology-related roles.
His career to date has largely been focused on manufacturing and operations, developing expertise in polymers, sealing and gaskets.
Alba director Gavin Sim said: “He actually has a huge amount of experience working in the gasket industry, having previously worked for GPT (Pikotek) in Denver – initially as an engineering manager and then as director of operations. He, therefore, brings with him a wealth of technical expertise, along with a proven track record of achieving results.”
Mr Sim added: “Also the fact that he has been operating in North America for the past three decades will undoubtedly be of huge benefit to us and our plans for continued international expansion.”
Mr Ruz said he was “really looking forward” to moving to Scotland and joining Alba’s 16-strong team, adding: “The business has always invested in technology and innovation, while targeting new geographical areas, and I’m excited to help capitalise on the significant opportunities that lie ahead.”
Last year, Alba invested in a new manufacturing division at its Souterhead Industrial Estate premises and also launched two new products.
