Inverness-based recruitment firm Orion Group said yesterday it had won deals worth a combined £20million per year with oil and gas operator Nexen.
The Canadian firm awarded two contracts to Orion to support projects in the North Sea and worldwide.
In total, Orion said it would provide 140 workers for the next five years.
Steve Greig, associate director at Orion, said the work would have an immediate impact on the company.
He said: “We have had a dedicated team working with Nexen to ensure its expectations are not only met but exceeded, and we’re confident that the relationship will bring mutual rewards and successes.”
The first contract will involve Orion supplying workers for Nexen’s Gol-den Eagle development, 43 miles off Aberdeen, for the next five years.
Production at the £2billion Golden Eagle development, which includes the Peregrine reservoir, is expected to start in 2014.
The Inverness firm has also extended an existing deal with Nexen and will continue to provide recruitment services for the operator’s offices in Aberdeen and Uxbridge and offshore installations in the North Sea, west Africa and the Gulf of Mexico for the next three years.
Mr Greig said: “Being appointed to work with Nexen as a global business partner underlines Orion’s strength and ability to attract some of the world’s finest energy specialists and it is encouraging to be in a position to provide some 140 workers over the coming years.”
Orion, which employs more than 340 people in 19 offices worldwide and provides up to 5,000 staff to clients at any one time, was established 25 years ago.
The company turned over £320million last year and has predicted its turnover will be £360million this year.
