SUBSEA engineering and construction contractor Technip has awarded scholarships to students at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen for a second year.
Stuart Thomson, 19, from Banchory Devenick, and Ross Mason, 17, from Westhill, were selected on academic merit and personal qualities.
As part of the scholarships, on offer to first-year mechanical engineering and second year surveying undergraduates, both students will receive £2,000 a year during their degree course, be linked to a mentor at Technip, and have the chance to apply for a paid placement at the firm.
Katrine Sharp, human resources director at Technip, said: “We are looking for high-achieving students with a strong commitment to a career in the energy industry, and after the interview process we decided to choose Stuart and Ross because we strongly believe that they have the qualities that we look for.”
Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants has announced the restructuring of its corporate organisation to include an autonomous subsea division.
The subsea division has bases worldwide, with the two largest centres in Aberdeen and London
In Aberdeen, Paul Soutar has been promoted to subsea and pipelines director, while London-based Graham May becomes business unit director for subsea and pipelines.
