TULLOW Oil said yesterday the Hyedua-2 well drilled to appraise the Jubilee field offshore Ghana had flowed at a stable rate of 16,750 barrels of oil per day (bpd), plus 21million cubic feet of associated gas per day.
It said the result confirmed good reservoir connectivity and very high productivity and also indicated that future production would be in excess of 20,000bpd.
Tullow said the Hyedua-2 well, in the Deepwater Tano licence, was on the north-west flank of the field and the excellent reservoir properties measured during flow testing were expected to be better still in the core area.
It said the combination of outstanding reservoir productivity and continuity was very encouraging for phase 1 of Jubilee, which remained on schedule for first oil in the second half of 2010.
Hyedua-2 will be suspended for later completion as a production well. Tullow chief executive Aidan Heavey said: “The Hyedua-2 test, from a well not even in the centre of the field, is an outstanding success and indicative of a world-class reservoir.”
Tullow (49.95%) operates Deepwater Tano. Partners include Kosmos Energy, 18%, Anadarko Petroleum, 18%, Sabre Oil and Gas, 4.05% and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, 10%.
