NORTH-EAST subsea technology and service company Triton Group is transferring the production of specialist equipment from Florida to Texas.
Group subsidiary Perry Slingsby Systems (PSS), which manufactures remotely operated vehicles for the subsea oil and gas sector, currently has production facilities in Florida and at Kirkbymoorside in North Yorkshire
Triton, based at Westhill, near Aberdeen, yesterday said the transfer of Florida production to Houston – to be undertaken in the next few months – would bring the total invested by the group in the Texan city to more than £1million.
The Houston site had already taken on 40 new workers and expanded from 5,000 to 30,000sqft in the last 18 months.
Triton has appointed a new vice-president at PSS, Rory Satterfield, to lead its restructuring in the US, with administrative functions for the Americas also being focused in Houston.
Formed in 2007, Triton comprises 11 companies offering a range of products and services to the subsea energy industry, centred on engineering and technology, product manufacture and system integration, and operations support and services.
