Falklands explorer Rockhopper said today its drilling campaign in the remote region had now ended.
The Ocean Guardian drilling rig, which had been on hire to the firm, had now been towed from its last well, the 14/15-4, it said.
The North Falkland Basin drilling campaign had run from April 2010 to January 2012.
Sam Moody, chief executive, said: “This marks the end of what has been a highly successful and safe drilling campaign. We have operated 10 wells, conducted two drill stem tests, two short offset sidetracks and collected in excess of 1,475ft of core with the Ocean Guardian on hire to us for a total of 397 days.”
He said of the 10 wells, seven had been successful, with “three oil discoveries, three gas discoveries, multiple successful Sea Lion appraisal wells and a successful appraisal well on Casper”.
Rockhopper said it would have more than £64.6million cash left once all drilling costs have been accounted for.
