NOMINATIONS have now closed for Oil & Gas UK’s annual industry awards ceremony and the number of entries received has been the most impressive yet.
Last year the awards attracted 54 nominations and this year there have been a record 87 nominations.
The event celebrates the people and businesses which make an exceptional contribution to the UK offshore oil and gas industry and invest in skills and personal development within the workforce.
Oil & Gas UK chief executive Malcolm Webb said: “The number of nominations we have received for the awards just goes to show that despite the economic difficulties experienced over the last year, our industry wants to give due recognition to the people and businesses who greatly believe in the future of the UK offshore oil and gas industry.
“The Oil & Gas UK award for Young Technician of the Year, the new award for People Development, and the Oil & Gas UK award for Mentoring have been the most popular this year.
“This is particularly encouraging.”
Finalists for each award category – the fourth and fifth are Overall Excellence and Supply Chain Business Innovation – will be announced on September 25.
Winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony on November 5 at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
