FUGRO has acquired the ERT (Scotland) marine environmental consultancy and will integrate it into its Fugro GeoConsulting unit.
Fugro GeoConsulting brings together the talents of Fugro’s geophysics, geology, geohazards, and geotechnical engineering resources to create a powerful combination of consultancy skills that provides a completely integrated solution to accurately identify and quantify seabed and sub-seabed risks and optimises the location, design, and installation of wells, pipelines, and facilities.
The company said that, with the acquisition of Aberdeen firm ERT, it offers offshore oil and gas clients an even stronger and more inclusive service.
“The ERT team of highly-qualified and experienced marine environmental scientists conducts survey, monitoring, consulting, and reporting services that are supported by in-house chemistry and marine biology laboratories,” said Pat Power, managing director at Fugro GeoConsulting.
“Thanks to its extensive knowledge of the marine environment, ERT is well suited to understand how each client’s activities will interact with that environment.
Regularly-used tools include environmental scoping; environmental impact assessment; stakeholder consultation; chemical hazard assessment and risk management (CHARM); discharge monitoring; and oil spill contingency planning.”
Mr Power added: “Their service is a perfect fit with our Integrated Earth Science Consulting service; they complement the existing Fugro Environmental Survey business and enhance the benefits we can deliver to a growing number of clients.
“Our role as a field development partner delivers significant benefits to subsea strategies and ensures safe and cost-effective engineering solutions – now we will be looking after their environmental interests as well.”
