INDEPENDENT corporate-finance adviser Lexicon Partners revealed yesterday it was building a team in Aberdeen.
Dave Blackwood, a former head of BP’s North Sea business based in the Granite City, has just joined the business.
The 56-year-old becomes a senior adviser based in Aberdeen and his new role will see him working on a regular basis with Lexicon.
The hiring of Mr Blackwood is said to be the first step in Lexicon’s plan to develop a group of advisers in Aberdeen to work closely with its core London-based team.
Lexicon sees Aberdeen as a thriving industrial centre and, despite declining North Sea output, the city is home to many growing world-class businesses plus companies with ground-breaking new technologies.
Lexicon managing director David Waring said: “We are really pleased that Dave has agreed to take on the role of senior adviser within Lexicon. We look forward to working with him to develop Lexicon’s franchise in the oil and gas sector, especially in the critically important Aberdeen market.”
Mr Blackwood said: “I am delighted to be taking on a new challenge and to be able to help Lexicon in bringing quality independent advisory services to the full range of energy clients in the Aberdeen market.”
The businessman retired from BP early last year.
He has already taken on non-executive directorships with Valiant Petroleum and Expro AX-S Technology and is also a board member of Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Future.
The Lexicon oil and gas team has more than 15 years’ experience advising Aberdeen businesses.
The company wants to become a mainstream advisory force in the Granite City market, focusing on clients in the exploration and production, oilfield service and renewables areas. Lexicon has bases in London, New York and Hong Kong.
