A SECOND ballot of Unite and GMB union members working for offshore contractors in the North Sea has resulted in a vote of more than two to one in favour of a new pay deal.
Unite said yesterday the revised offer from the Offshore Contractors’ Association (OCA) paved the way for a “period of stability for the industry and a reasonable and fair settlement” for the workforce offshore.
OCA chief executive Bill Murray said: “It is extremely encouraging news that members have voted in support of the revised pay settlement, which will adjust wage rates and allowances until the next review date in April 2012.”
It is thought the new deal includes a pay rise of 4.5%.
