Subsea 7 said today it is to build a new vessel after winning a five-year deal with oil firm Petrobras.
The company is to provide a deepwater flexible pipelay vessel for Petrobras’ operations offshore Brazil starting in the second half of 2014 in a contract worth an estimated £313million.
The newbuild pipelay vessel, to be 479ft long and 98ft wide, is expected to cost about £219million. Subsea 7 said this would be funded entirely from existing cash reserves.
The vessel will be equipped with Class-2 dynamic positioning and equipped for transporting and installing flexible flowlines and umbilicals in water depths of up to 9,800ft.
