DRON and Dickson (D&D), a specialist in the design, supply and maintenance of hazardous area electrical equipment, said yesterday record new business had helped it achieve turnover growth of more than 14.5%.
The firm saw turnover rise to £27.6million during the 12 months to May 30, from £24.1million a year earlier.
Pre-tax profits in the latest period came in at just under £1million, up from about £500,000 the previous year.
Operations director Colin Maver said: “The growth reflects the significant ongoing and controlled investment being made back into the business.” D&D is based in Stirling, but also has operations in Aberdeen and Hull.
“The majority of work completed has been within the UK and we will continue to grow organically across our UK bases, which are all performing exceptionally well.”
“In addition, we are focusing on new markets and have completed work in Germany for the first time.
“We also have plans for further international expansion most immediately in the Middle East.”
D&D said the record levels of new business came in the first six months of the year, with £55million of North Sea work awarded by customers including BP, Nexen and Talisman.
Employee numbers both on and offshore have risen from 160 to 220 over the past 12 months and further recruitment is planned for the coming year.
With demand expected to continue to rise and other new contracts in the pipeline, the firm is predicting growth in excess of 10% for 2011/12.
