OFFSHORE Solutions, a joint venture between Amec and Cofely Nederland, said yesterday it had completed a world first for transferring offshore workers on to floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels.
The firm, which has offices in the Netherlands and Aberdeen, said its new free-standing offshore access system was more flexible than traditional technology and could be installed quickly on host vessels, helping clients to cut costs.
The new system was used on the Stril Explorer – chartered by SeaHold Geoships – to transfer workers to and from Shell’s Anasuria floating production vessel in the North Sea.
