ABERDEEN oil and gas manufacturing company Omega Completion Technology said yesterday it had secured an order worth more than £1.5million from BP for its specialist valves.
The products will be used in the Clair Ridge project to the west of Shetland, with delivery in February.
It is one of a series of new contracts won since Omega’s relocation to a £2million purpose-built factory at Dyce as the firm looks to grow capacity to meet growing global demand for its technology.
Managing director Mark Buyers said: “This is the biggest single order Omega has received for this valve and shows the continued commitment to Omega from BP for this type of equipment.
“The main reason this valve was chosen was because of the unrivalled 100% track record of a similar Omega completion valve which has been used in the Norwegian sector for the past four years.”
He added: “Thanks to our recent expansion, we are able to cater for larger and more complex orders . . . and we aim to increase our production of bespoke oilfield technologies as our workforce continues to grow.
“We have an extremely healthy order book and are negotiating to enter into a series of new agreements, so the workshop will be kept very busy for the foreseeable future.”
Omega’s relocation to Kirkhill Road triggered a further investment of £500,000 in new workshop machinery, which the firm says is essential to developing and manufacturing its innovative downhole tools for the oil industry.
