ENERGY service company flexlife, of Aberdeen, has announced the completion of £1million-worth of work for clients in the North Sea using its patented scanning technology.
The projects included scanning equipment on the Balmoral platform, acquired by oil and gas firm Premier Oil following the collapse of Oilexco North Sea at the start of this year.
Other work was completed for Hess and StatoilHydro in the UK and Norwegian sectors of the North Sea.
Flexlife said yesterday it had further projects scheduled for the rest of this year in the North Sea and internationally.
The firm was founded in April 2007 by directors Stuart Mitchell, John Marsden and Carl-Petter Halvorsen. They had identified a gap in the market for an innovative consultancy specialising in engineering and delivering flexible-pipe projects, in addition to developing patented technology offering new solutions to common problems facing the subsea sector.
In June, the company received the business innovation of the year title at the 2009 National Business Awards for Scotland. Flexlife – based at Bucksburn – said yesterday it was on track for turnover of £5million in 2009-10, up from £3million a year earlier.
It has a 20-strong team, with plans to employ at least 50 people by 2012.
The company, which also offers a design, delivery and maintenance service, aims to open bases in Brazil and Australia later this year.
