Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has secured a $510million contract with Chevron to construct an oil and gas production platform for installation offshore Angola.
The platform will be built in South Korea and is scheduled to be delivered to Angola by Q4 2013. The project is a turnkey package, in which DSME will take full responsibility for the design, material purchases, installation and trial operation.
Weighing 18,758 tonnes, 62.5 metres (205ft) tall and 35 metres (115ft) wide, the platform will be installed to boost processing capacity of the existing facility, which is located on Block 0 in the Cabinda region of northern Angola.
The existing platform produces 100,000 barrels per day of oil and some 141.3million cu.ft per day of natural gas.
