DECOM North Sea (DNS) is staging its first international mission for members this week.
The offshore oil and gas decommissioning forum was formed a year ago to stimulate the supply chain to take advantage of opportunities from the decommissioning programme due to ramp up over the next 12 months.
The body has 110 members, including operators, major contractors, service specialists and technology developers.
Representatives from several member companies are taking part in the mission to Norway from today to Friday.
DNS chief executive Brian Nixon said: “We recognise there are huge opportunities for our members in decommissioning projects not only on the UK continental shelf, but right across the North Sea – on the Norwegian, the Dutch and the Danish continental shelves. As a result, DNS is working with European partners to try to quantify what the total expected cost and programme of decommissioning will be across the North Sea and therefore the potential opportunity for DNS members.
“We are already promoting our member capabilities to the key players in each of these areas.”
The aim of the mission is to find out more about upcoming decommissioning projects on the Norwegian continental shelf, as well as to promote DNS members’ capabilities to operators and major contractors in Norway.
The visit to Norway coincides with a decommissioning conference in Bergen organised by the Norwegian Petroleum Society.
Companies participating on the mission include Peterson SBS, Cape Industrial Services, Wood Group Engineering, Interact Activity Management and BMT Cordah.
