THE “AGM” of Britain’s burgeoning renewables industry, to be staged in Aberdeen this week, promises to be the biggest and best yet. All-Energy 2010, the 10th in the annual series, will be staged on Wednesday, May 19, and Thursday, May 20, at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. In addition, Renewables UK is running a share fair on the Tuesday.
The largest renewable energy exhibition and conference ever held in the UK has attracted more than 450 exhibiting companies from 16 countries (filling 25% more space than All-Energy ’09).
Well over 6,000 delegates have registered ahead of the event – again a new record.
The conference, too, is the largest ever held, with well over 270 speakers, including the legendary Houston energy banker, Matt Simmons, who is planning a hard-hitting paper. Also on Thursday, May 20, a careers fair is being staged for the first time, plus teachers and career guidance specialists will be attending a special education day. A further development is that, on Friday, May 21, there will be two technical tours for exhibitors and visitors.
Besides Simmons, who addressed the first-ever All-Energy, and a drawer full of other top speaker attractions, on the opening morning, the so-called Offshore Valuation Group will present findings of the first full economic assessment ever undertaken of Britain’s offshore renewable resource and report on the findings in a 90-minute session.
Throughout the two days, speakers will be highlighting all sources of renewable energy, including on and offshore wind; bioenergy in all its guises; wave and tidal devices and projects; hydropower; hydrogen and fuel cells; micro-generation and onsite renewables for homes and businesses, and renewables for communities in general, and farmers in particular.
Among the many strategic topics, the vital elements of finance and funding will come under the spotlight with three sessions – one a financing and commercialising networking event, a second looking at public funding of the low-carbon landscape and a third looking at the funding of large projects.
Online registration is at www.all-energy.co.uk.
