CALEDYNE, an Aberdeen-based energy industry engineering service and product specialist, will be recognised in America in May with a global award for its retrievable metal-to-metal (MTM) downhole seal system.
It has been named the improved oil-recovery category winner of an award for engineering excellence.
Winners will be recognised during the opening day of the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston on Monday, May 4.
Following the launch of Caledyne’s MTM seal system in 2007, the technology has been granted a European patent. The seal consists of flexible material contained inside a metal shell.
Caledyne managing director Roland van Dort said: “This award is significant recognition for technology we have developed here in the north-east and recognises just how important the MTM seal is for the industry.”
He added that the seal was suitable for any downhole condition, irrespective of temperature, pressure, corrosive environment and chemicals injected.
