A SURVEY by NOF Energy, the business support organisation for the oil, gas, nuclear and offshore renewable-energy sectors, has found a buoyant mood within the industry.
NOF said its research among nearly 400 members showed the supply chain was robust, with 93% of firms saying they were confident or very confident about their long-term future.
The group added: “The survey indicates that the NOF Energy membership will contribute and support over £7billion sales in 2012 and provide employment for in the region of 50,000 people.
“Oil and gas remains the dominant sector for sales, with 75% of those taking part in the survey report-ing an increase during 2010.”
NOF said more than half of its members operating in the subsea industry had seen an increase in sales during the past year.
A key issue raised in the survey was the need to secure a greater amount of UK content – the use of British suppliers on domestic projects
