ONE of the winners of the Oil and Gas UK Awards 2008 is urging fellow young professionals to have their skills, resolve and achievements rewarded at this year’s event.
Caroline Gill, a geologist with Shell UK, collected last year’s award for overall excellence. She said: “Winning the award has given me opportunities, both large and small, that I would otherwise not have had.
“At Shell, I am still involved with the Nelson field but I am now responsible for rebuilding the reservoir model and I am also involved in operations geology for some wells drilled on the field.
“Outside of Shell, I had the opportunity to speak at a number of conferences and present various papers. I was one of the youngest presenters to speak at the Petroleum Geology Conference in London and have since been invited to write a review on the event.”
She had also been asked to speak at the opening session of Energise Your Future at the Offshore Europe conference in Aberdeen.
“There is a lot of talent in our industry and I would urge everyone to pick up a nomination form and enter the awards for a chance to have their achievements honoured and recognised by industry,” she said.
Nominations for both individual and corporate categories open today. Closing date for entries is August 3, and the winners will be announced at the Oil and Gas UK Awards dinner on November 5, at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Details of the awards and how to enter will be available at www.oilandgasuk.co.uk
