IN CONJUNCTION with Offshore Europe, and to celebrate 10 years of Simmons & Company International in Aberdeen, more than 300 people attended a cocktail reception at Malmaison’s Brasserie.
Guests were welcomed by Pictish bagpipe band The Trybe, who were dressed in traditional pre-1745 Highland garments with 21st-century warrior embellishments.
Chief executives, private equity-fund managers and bankers all gathered to listen to CEO Colin Welsh’s warning about the longer-term effects that cutbacks in spending will have on long-term oil supply, and the subsequent effect on oil prices.
Well-known faces on the night included L.E. Simmons, president of SCF Partners; Petrofac Group chief executive Ayman Asfari; George Yule, 2009’s Grampian Industrialist of the Year and CEO of Dominion Gas, and Graeme Coutts, executive chairman of Expro.
