Offshore helicopter company CHC Helicopter has appointed a new director of safety and quality for its European operations based in Aberdeen.
Duncan Trapp had been safety and regulatory manager at CHC since 2007.
He will lead safety operations at bases in Scotland, England, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway.
Mr Trapp replaces former director Bob Millburn, who stood down from the post at the end of October but continues to be involved with CHC in a consultative role.
Mr Trapp said: “Having been part of the CHC safety team for several years already, I know just how passionate we are about raising the bar on safety not just within our organisation but across the industry as a whole. My aim is to continue to drive this passion and commitment throughout the European operations division.
“We have an outstanding safety-management system supported by dedicated and professional individuals across all our business units at CHC and I look forward to building on the standardised approach we have introduced across our operations to ensure customers around Europe benefit from the same high level of safety performance.”
Tilmann Gabriel, president of CHC Europe, said: “This is a very exciting time for CHC as we embark on a fresh wave of investment in our services and senior management team to enable us to meet both our own growth aspirations and the needs of our customers.
“Duncan’s appointment to this new role will make a significant contribution towards CHC’s drive to maintain and enhance our operational performance and underpin our position as the leading operator in the field.”
The Aberdeen-headquartered company, which employs around 460 people in the UK, had turnover of £375million in 2009.
