A FORMER director of business development at Forth Valley College has joined Opito – the Oil and Gas Academy.
Gillian Black is the manager in charge of policy affairs at the Portlethen-based body, which is the industry’s focal point for skills, learning and workforce development.
She said: “I am looking forward to establishing stronger links and helping to influence national skills and education policy in order to drive productivity growth in the industry.”
Chief executive David Doig said: “The ongoing global demand for energy will see the continued requirement for workers of all disciplines across all sectors.
“The oil and gas industry needs to make its requirements understood.
“Gillian’s background in the education sector is a key strength which will allow her to forge stronger links between the oil and gas industry, government funding bodies and education providers, leading ultimately to tangible benefits for all stakeholders, employers and employees within industry.”
