ESS Support Services Worldwide, the Aberdeen-based provider of integrated catering, hotel and facility-management services offshore, said yesterday it had won its first contract in the Netherlands.
The deal with Wintershall Noordzee is understood to be worth more than £10million over a five-year period.
It covers nine manned and 15 unmanned satellite installations in the Dutch and German sectors of the North Sea and will be supported and managed by the ESS operations team in Den Helder, in the Netherlands.
The team has already overseen the transfer of 30 staff from the previous contract holder as part of the contract mobilisation, giving ESS 1,500 staff worldwide, including 1,200 in the UK.
Alain Morize, managing director of ESS, said: “We are delighted to start a new partnership with Wintershall. In a period when aspects of oil and gas activity are on hold in the UK, it is important to grow our business internationally.”
Ronald Laarhoven, Wintershall procurement manager, said: “We undertook a detailed pre-qualification and tender exercise to find the right partner for this key service. The ESS tender best met our criteria for selection and we look forward to working with them to support our personnel offshore.”
ESS is part of Compass Group UK and Ireland, which employs 66,000 people in more than 7,000 operating business units.
