ABOUT 300 specialists from countries worldwide are in Aberdeen for Europe’s premier annual well-intervention conference and exhibition.
The 16th European Well Intervention Round Table is organised jointly by the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the European chapter for the Intervention and Coiled Tubing Association (ICoTA).
It got under way yesterday at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre and continues today.
Opening day highlights included a keynote address from David Heslop, vice-president of wells at Talisman Energy (UK), who said the showcase was “packed with fantastic examples of new and old technology being creatively applied to solve tough problems”. He added: “This event plays a vital role in showcasing technology and experience, and bringing together service providers and operators to benefit from shared knowledge.
“Well interventions are helping to sustain our industry by unlocking barrels and value, and that can only be good for the future of the UK sector, which is still a key global area for the upstream industry.”
Exhibitors include oilfield service company Weatherford, which is promoting a new compact well-maintenance system.
Energy service group Expro is demonstrating is AX-S deepwater intervention system and SME TCO, a global provider of specialised well technology, is showcasing its multi-cycle valve.
Delegates have come to the event from countries including America, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Germany and France.
