TECHNOLOGY firm PanGeo Subsea has officially opened an office in Aberdeenshire as part of plans to grow its business worldwide.
The new operation at Arnhall Business Park, Westhill, is supporting operations in offshore oil and gas plus renewable energy.
The Canadian group specialises in 3D and 4D subsea acoustic imaging.
In addition to Aberdeen, PanGeo has overseas offices in Norway and Denmark.
North-east subsidiary PanGeo Subsea Scotland (PSS) already employs about a dozen specialists, led by global operations vice-president Alex Fleming.
The group, which has a workforce of about 60 people globally, expects the Westhill operation to be employing up to 50 people within six months.
Mr Fleming joined PanGeo at the end of last year, bringing more than 30 years’ experience in the offshore construction sector.
He has held senior roles in project management, survey management and operations; most recently as president of the US arm of DOF Subsea.
PanGeo president Moya Cahill said PSS would become the group’s global operational hub. She added: “We have identified a strong market demand for our 3D acoustic-imaging service and want to bring our leading-edge technology directly to our customers.”
Angus Cooper joined PanGeo recently as director of business development and sales for oil and gas, and is also based at Westhill. The firm was formed in 2006 by Pan Maritime Energy Serv-ices and Guigne International with venture-capital investment by Energy Ventures.
