PRIVATE and public-sector organisations in the Highlands and islands are to make their case to be rated one of the most successful energy industry hubs in the world at the All-Energy conference and exhibition in Aberdeen next week.
More than 40 groups from the area will be attending the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre event on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Highlands and islands will be demonstrating to the world’s renewable-energy industry its determination to win business, endorsed by six local authorities, the North Scotland Industries Group – representing more than 100 energy firms – and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. There are almost 600 groups with an interest in energy in the region, operating in sectors including oil and gas, wind, tidal, wave, biomass, hydro and hydrogen.
It has pioneered significant developments including the world’s first deepwater offshore wind project and the establishment in Orkney of Emec, the world’s only full-scale, grid-connected wave and tidal device test and accreditation centre.
Orkney will represent a significant part of the north’s presence at All- Energy, where its pavilion will host 11 organisations.
Aberdeen Convention Bureau will take part as a member of the Energy Cities Alliance, in which its partners are counterparts in Calgary, Abu Dhabi and Perth, Australia.
