The far-reaching implications of national and international energy policy on oil and gas firms is to be the subject of a key industry event in Aberdeen next month.
Oil and Gas UK (OGUK)’s Energy Policy Seminar is bringing together experts in the political world around UK and EU energy policy, directly relating to oil and gas, for a seminar in the Granite City.
It will also look at the targets for new energy sources and the challenges of attracting investment in the current economic climate.
Also up for discussion will be the need to upgrade national gas and electricity networks, the changing balance in world markets, the implications of new policies for gas supplies and a review of the reliability of wind power and other renewables.
The event will be chaired by OGUK energy policy manager David Odling.
He said: “There are major obstacles ahead, including attracting investment on the scale required in electricity, downstream gas and marginal offshore oil and gas developments, the influence of international markets, the need to adapt our national electricity and gas networks, pressures in the supply chain and the ambitious targets for renewable energy.
“It’s essential that the oil and gas industry remains aware of the changing government policies which are – and will continue to – influence business decisions at a national and international level.”
The event takes place at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on November 10.
