AKER Solutions has been hired by BP to provide subsurface consultancy services on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Under the three-year agreement, Aker Solutions’ geo-business will deliver operational geology services from BP’s onshore facility in Stavanger and wellsite geology services from BP’s assets offshore Norway.
Detailing the arrangement, Erik Sverre Jenssen, president of Aker Solutions’ geo-business, said it covered support to the production drilling activities at BP’s Skarv field in the Norwegian sector of the Northern North Sea in blocks 6507/5, 6507/2, 6507/3 and 6507/6, in waters to 350-450m (1,150-1,480ft) depth, and that it would ensure a steady flow of work over the coming years.
Jenssen said: “This enables BP to get the highest possible return on investment from our geologists and the know-how they have built up over many years on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. This is the first time BP is buying wellsite geology services from us, and we look forward to working with them.”
Aker Solutions’ subsurface consultancy, Aker Geo, comprises a team of 60 geologists, geophysicists and reservoir engineers. The main focus is geological and geophysical interpretation, petrophysics, reservoir modelling and simulation, and wellsite geology, as well as production technology and operations.
