Two new directors have been announced at ITF, the Aberdeen-based oil and gas industry technology facilitator, as it gears up for international expansion this year.
David Liddle has taken up the post of strategic technology director.
His new role will allow him to focus on growing membership and understanding its technology needs, in addition to taking a strategic view on special technology projects for members to consider funding.
Mr Liddle has been involved in the design and commercialisation of hi-tech products in the oil industry for more than 35 years.
He spent the first half of his career in the design and manufacture of underwater vehicles and has provided support to small and medium enterprises in developing their own products and services.
Since joining ITF four years ago, Mr Liddle has helped secure millions of pounds of funding from oil operator and service company members to fund joint industry projects and bring technologies to the market. He said: “This is an important year for ITF as we implement plans to establish a new office in the Middle East and continue with further international expansion in other key regions.”
ITF has further strengthened the executive management team with the appointment of Dorothy Burke as operations director.
She will lead a team of four technology analysts.
Mrs Burke is joining ITF following a contract with the organisation to manage the oil and gas sector of the Energy Knowledge Transfer Network, a nationwide consortium which encourages technology collaboration projects across all energy sectors. She was previously director of Connect Scotland, an independent organisation which attracted more than £220million of private-equity investment to the Scottish technology sector.
Mrs Burke said: “It is an exciting time to be joining as a director of ITF and I’m looking forward to working with a dedicated team to launch more joint industry projects and drive new technology solutions to the big challenges facing the oil and gas industry.
“ITF is bringing industry together to collaborate and this unique model supports developers with the offer of up to 100% funding for innovative solutions.”
ITF has brought more than 160 new technologies to market and secured around £50million investment from its member companies.
The organisation aims to secure a further £50million of investment from members to launch 40 joint industry projects per year by 2015.
There are now more than 20 global members of ITF, made up of operators and service companies.
