ABERDEEN mechanical service group EnerMech has appointed Shirley Smith as director of human resources.
It said the move reflected the significant growth of the company in the past 12 months and was part of its international expansion strategy.
EnerMech said she would play a key role in integrating new staff into the organisation following recent acquisitions in the UK, Norway and Middle East and when further deals took place.
Ms Smith joins EnerMech from drilling contractor Ensco, where she was head of human resources (HR) for European and African operations.
Previously, she spent seven years as HR manager with Petrofac.
She said: “I am delighted to be joining EnerMech at a critical stage in its growth.
“The company has set out clear strategies for domestic and international expansion and recruitment and human resource management will play a crucial role in those plans.”
EnerMech managing director Doug Duguid said: “We identified the need for a strong and forward-thinking human resources professional who will shape and influence the recruitment and retention of staff and smooth the transition of new employees joining the company as we extend our geographic footprint.”
EnerMech was formed in April 2008 and employs 350 staff at its Aberdeen headquarters and bases at Great Yarmouth, Stavanger, Dubai, Ras al Khaimah, Singapore and Perth, Australia.
Its five director-owners are backed by private-equity firm Lime Rock Partners and together have in place a £30million-plus funding package for organic growth and further acquisitions.
