OIL service group OEG Offshore has won a £290,000 deal with US drilling rig component manufacturer National Oilwell Varco (NOV).
Aberdeen-based OEG has been contracted to design and supply 60, 40-foot pipe bins for use in the transport of drill pipes.
The deal was secured by OEG’s Houston office and will be delivered with assistance from its Singapore team, which will oversee manufacturing of the units in a factory in China and their transfer to NOV’s Chinese pipe-making plant, from where they will be shipped.
Larry Bobbitt, president of OEG in the US, said: “Our Houston office will be linking up with the Singapore and Aberdeen teams who will manage the manufacture and transfer of the units directly to NOV’s pipe facility, ensuring a cost-effective solution that saves customers from shipping across continents.
“Our ability to link up with OEG’s other hubs in Aberdeen, Singapore and Perth, Australia means that we can offer a worldwide network to customers.”
