ENERGY service giant Schlumberger yesterday hailed the opening of a £470,000 extension to an operations support centre in Aberdeen, saying it was the result of business growth in the north-east.
Katy Heidenreich, the group’s North Sea real time business development manager, said the investment at Schlumberger’s drilling and measurements division at Kirkton Avenue, Dyce, would also help to centralise expertise.
Ms Heidenreich said it was also a signal of Schlumberger’s long-term commitment to the North Sea, where the group had many years of experience.
“This expansion is a reflection of this and our vision of the North Sea’s requirements in the future,” she said.
Highlighting business growth at Dyce, Schlumberger said its 45 employees at the operations centre now handled work on about 25 rigs per month – up from a monthly average of 15 in 2006.
“We need additional floor space so we can take on more work for our clients,” a spokeswoman added.
