MANAGERS in the oil & gas industry now have the opportunity to equip themselves with the skills and knowledge for a senior management role via a new Master’s Leadership Programme launched by Dundee University’s Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy.
CEPMLP claims its Master’s is the first of its kind for senior practising managers in the petroleum industry.
It is focused on developing strategic management, organisational development and leadership skills, concentrating on key challenges and issues facing the commercial, community, governmental and political stakeholders.
The centre says the new programme is “intellectually challenging”, takes a minimum of two years to complete and prepares participants for senior leadership or advisory roles relating to energy and natural resources in the private and public sector.
The programme comprises six modules, five of which are two five-day intensive learning events in international locations, interspersed with reflection, application, assignments and work-based projects.
There is also a project module that starts with a shorter learning event.
CEPMLP says participants are offered a “very flexible and personalised” study plan to help them achieve their objectives. Heavy hitters are involved in the programme’s delivery, including World Bank senior legal counsel for energy Mark Moseley; former UN inter-regional adviser on petroleum and mineral legislation Professor Thomas Wälde, and economist Professor Paul Stevens.
The first learning event for the Executive Master’s in Oil and Gas Leadership – Creating New Energy Infrastructure in Developing Countries: Policy Issues and Legal Consideration – is led by Mark Moseley and takes place in Dubai on June 22-26 and then in Edinburgh on September 21-25. Participants may also attend this as an individual course.
