Equinor has been given the go-ahead to drill an exploration well at its Helleneset prospect in Norway.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted a permit for the 30/6-31 wildcat, due to begin work early next year.
It will be drilled by the West Hercules rig in the 053 licence, around five miles from the Oseberg field centre.
Equinor is operator with a 49.3% stake. Other licensees are Petoro AS (33.6 per cent), Total E&P Norge AS (14.7 per cent) and ConocoPhillips Scandinavia AS (2.4 per cent).
