OIL and gas consultant Apply Altra said yesterday it was driving forward plans to double its workforce in Aberdeen.
It has recruited nearly 10 additional engineers recently and intends to take on a further 45 staff by spring to bring its workforce to 100.
Apply Altra said this expansion was an integral part of the company’s long-term growth strategy to create a centre of excellence for process engineering and general front-end engineering and design (Feed) within the Apply group.
The company was launched in April when Altra Energy was taken over by Norwegian engineering firm Apply Sorco.
Apply Altra managing director Agnar Kongshaug said: “It is a very busy market at the moment and we believe there is a huge amount of skill in Aberdeen and across the rest of the Scotland that we can draw upon to continue to develop a base of expertise here in the north-east.
“Apply Altra is firmly establishing itself within the Apply family as a centre of excellence for early phase studies and Feeds, and as a consequence is involved in projects which emanate elsewhere in the Apply group of companies.”
Apply group has 2,000 employees across Europe, mainly in the oil and gas industry. It has an operational presence in Bergen and Krakow in addition to its headquarters in Stavanger.
