ABERDEEN engineering firm L&N (Scotland) said yesterday it was looking to expand by launching a new operation in West Africa.
L&N, which specialises in valves, subsea assembly and welding services, is to build on a long record of working in Angola and expertise built up over the years to tap into the potentially lucrative African oil and gas sector.
An Angolan firm has offered to introduce its services to its portfolio as a way of introducing the Scottish company to potential clients.
Dyce-based L&N hopes it will lead to a permanent base, with repair, refurbishment and manufacturing facilities.
In another international initiative, managing director Alastair Chalmers is heading to Malaysia and Australia on a three-week fact-finding mission after getting encouraging approaches from Asia-Pacific companies interested in forming partnerships with L&N.
The global sales push is part of a wider growth strategy at the firm, which has recently also secured a key UK distributor agreement with Canadian pipe connection and flow control company, SMX International.
L&N operations director Mike McArtney said: “We are not standing still and are determined to push out of our traditional markets by exploring new opportunities to grow the business in West Africa, Malaysia and possibly Australia, which will take the company to a new level.”
