VALIANT Petroleum, the British oil and gas company, has announced the appointment of leading oil industry figure Dave Blackwood as a non-executive director.
Mr Blackwood, 55, has a wealth of upstream experience gained during a 34-year career in the oil industry, the majority spent in various global roles at BP, from which he retired earlier this year.
He had spent six years leading BP’s upstream business in the UK and Norway.
Mr Blackwood was a founding co-chairman of Oil & Gas UK and a member of PILOT, the UK Government and energy industry forum. He was also a board member of Scottish Enterprise Grampian and is vice-chairman of Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Future.
Valiant chief executive Peter Buchanan said: “We look forward to benefiting from Dave’s experience and insights into operating and growing a full-cycle exploration and production business in the North Sea.”
