THE former chief executive of Canadian oil firm Talisman Energy, Jim Buckee, has joined Cairn Energy, of Edinburgh, as a non-executive director.
Mr Buckee, who retired from Talisman in October 2007, has been appointed as a member of Cairn’s audit and remuneration committees.
Cairn chairman Norman Murray said the group was delighted Mr Buckee had agreed to join its board, adding: “His significant experience across the globe within the oil and gas industry will be of great benefit to the board.
“We believe he will bring extensive knowledge about the delivery of substantial engineering projects and maximising exploration activities in frontier acreage.”
Mr Buckee said: “I’m very pleased to accept this opportunity to join the Cairn Board. Cairn has a world-class set of assets and acreage highlighted by the delivery of the Rajasthan project (in India), the unfolding exploration story in Greenland and an exciting future.”
Cairn also said that non-executive director Ed Story had resigned
The company is to release an operational update on Thursday, January 29.
