Asco Group’s Norwegian operation said yesterday it had landed contracts worth an estimated £40million over five years.
The company is to supply integrated logistics services to oil companies BP and Talisman Energy.
The news came just a couple of weeks after the group announced it had been awarded logistics contracts from BP and TAQA in the UK totalling £30million.
Runar Hatletvedt, Asco’s managing director for northern Europe, said yesterday: “Both BP and Talisman are very important customers to us and we are delighted they have shown confidence in us by awarding these contracts. As well as securing 50 to 60 jobs, this also provides the basis for possible future investments.”
Asco Europe, Middle East and Africa chief executive Derek Smith said: “Building on recent contract wins, this is tremendous news and is a huge tribute to our staff across the group.
“This win also adds significantly to our global reputation as the leading logistics specialists in the oil and gas industry.”
Asco Norway has been expanding supply bases recently along the Norwegian coast with five located at Farsund, Tananger, Kristiansund, Sandnessjoen and Mongstadbase in Bergen.
Last week, Asco Norway revealed it was to create an Arctic base in the north of the country.
This will give the group the opportunity to offer greater support to oil and gas developments in the Barents Sea and northern parts of the Norwegian Sea.
The Arctic base will be spread over two locations – Kirkenes and Skjervoy – and will be a joint venture with Tschudi Shipping, which specialises in the ownership and management of vessels.
The move will create up to 25 jobs in the first phase.
